On my heart...

1. Heavy on my heart today has been our pastor Matt Chandler. When the church sent out an email Thanksgiving evening that Matt had collapsed from a seizure and doctors discovered a tumor in his brain- we were greatly saddened and concerned by the news. Matt is currently undergoing brain surgery to have the tumor removed and we are hopeful for his recovery. Even through this difficult trial- Matt has ministered to our church and many others who follow his ministry by demonstrating his steadfast faith. Matt wrote this blog this morning before going into surgery. We are praying for his complete healing.

2. I am going back to work on Monday. I am thankful that I have a job- a job that I really enjoy and I am thankful for the wonderful women that will be taking care of Lucy during the day. But- I have tons of anxiety about being apart from her. So pray that I am not an emotional basket case all week back at work. Who wouldn't want to spend the day with a beautiful face like this...

giving thanks

It was a busy week at our house! Lucy had a great time meeting her uncle Carson and spending time with her grandpa Dale the first part of the week.

We did a little sight seeing in Ft. Worth during Dad and Carson's visit.

Any good baby gets excited about their first turkey.

Mom cooked up a feast for Turkey Day
Our first thanksgiving as a family of 3. I am especially thankful for my fun and helpful husband this year.
Out to dinner (Lucy was very well behaved of course!)

My mom was a great help around the house this week and Lucy enjoyed hanging out and even hitting up a few black friday deals with her 'mimi'!

Princess and the pea.

She sleeps on the couch....

She sleeps in mom and dad's bed...
She sleeps on dad's chest....
She'll even sleep on the kitchen table! (to clarify- my daughter does not sleep on the kitchen table, I just snapped this photo to prove a point)
But put her in her crib.....
And this is what you get!! Works like a charm everytime. Suggestions?

Every girl needs a doll

Every girl needs a doll and Lucy just received her first one as a gift. Sam and I had a good laugh about it... I think this could go one of two ways. 1. we'll watch Lucy lovingly play with this doll and carry it around someday or 2. she'll be crawling into bed with us complaining about a bad dream featuring a giant cowgirl.

Oh... and she has incredible baby neck strength.

couch hog.

Sam and I agreed that we didn't want to be the type of parents that let their children rule the house- but somehow, the smallest person in the family has taken control over the couch. Leaving us to curl up on the love seat or glider.
Nice trick Lucy- but we're on to you.

bath time and other adventures

On Wednesday- Lucy will be one month old! Wow, a month old already! Lucy had a busy last week from meeting great-grandma Swanson, having her portraits made, visiting mom's school, staying with Abue and papa for a couple of hours so mom and dad could go on a fancy date and her first bath....

Lucy is grandma Swanson's 22nd great grandchild!

Sam couldn't wait for Lucy to wear this cookie monster bath towel- Lucy had a different opinion of it!

Pumpkin

No matter how tight the swaddle- these tiny fingers always manage to find their way out!

All dressed up and ready for the halloween party at Sam's work

Visiting Dad at work.

Lucy was pooped after all the fun at dad's work.

Lucy finally got to meet her Aunt Kak!

Lucy was very well behaved for her first girls night out.

We had a pretty lazy halloween. Sam had his grad school class all day Saturday so Lucy and I hung out watching football. Lucy also got to meet her great grandma Swanson this week- but I fell down on the job and haven't gotten any pictures yet!
We are having lots of fun being a family of 3. Lucy is still such a good baby and SO snuggly. We can't believe we've had her with us for three weeks already!
