Last night we drove down to Caldwell Tx to see my best bud Karol Anne's dance team perform. She has been directing them this school year and put together their spring dance show and she did a great job! I've tried putting video up but I can't get it to upload! (frustrating) But, KA taught them the same finale that we did back in our high school days so it was a fun blast from the past. Somehow I tricked Sam into coming to a dance recital with me... I warned him that if we ever have daughters, it won't be his last! ha! He was a really good sport about it and I think he had a good time :)

Testing out the new camera in Ft. Worth

Well, we finally bought the camera I had been eyeing for months!! My old camera had been taking alot of fuzzy shots and it was time for a new one. So.. last weekend we took it for a test run at the Ft. Worth arts festival. I loved walking around down town Fort Worth since I'd never been and lots of fun seeing all of the great art work. Annual trip to Austin

Every April Sam and I gather some friends together and make a trip down to Austin for a night of country western dancing at the Broken Spoke. Our good friend Rob rode down from Dallas with us and we stopped for lunch at our favorite Waco restaraunt, Bush's Chicken! We also did a little reminiscing of our Baylor days... and then it was off to Austin. We did a little vintage shopping (I'm sure the boys weren't thrilled about this part but I was really glad just to browse!) we had a very tastey dinner at one of my Austin favorites, Kerbey Cafe and then we tried to check out the world's largest urban bat colony. After an hour of waiting for the supposed "one million urban bats" to come flying out from under the bridge... we only saw about 20! I guess it was a little too chilly for the bats, maybe we'll try again in the fall. We finally made it to the Broken spoke where we met up with Melanie and her boyfriend as well as other friends for a great night of two steppin! Sam and I have certainly improved from years past but I think we agree that social dance lessons would be something worth checking into.
Sunday mom and dad Swanson had a birthday lunch prepared complete with a delicious tiramisou cake! It was a really nice afternoon and a great birthday weekend!

A happy 22

Well, after a stressful day at work and almost getting swept away by a tornado on my drive home... Sam took me out for a great birthday date! He made me feel extra special all day Friday by taking me to breakfast before working and meeting me on my break in the afternoon and then dinner and a play at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre. We saw a popcorn play so everyone was throwing popcorn at each other and the actors. It was so fun! It was also so nice to get so many calls, messages, and cards from friends and family!

Medieval Times

On Saturday night, we had dinner at Medieval Times! It was great... although it's pretty pricey, it makes for a very entertaining meal. Before we left for dinner, we watched the Medieval Times scene from the movie Cable Guy to get fired up about it. Carson and Sam had a sword battle in the gift shop and we all cheered for the green knight. My recommendation to anyone going: pack some silverware, unless you like eating a whole chicken with your fingers!

Snow on easter weekend?

We had some Easter visitors this weekend! Dad and Carson drove up to spend the weekend with us in Dallas. As hard as it was to believe, we looked out of our window on Saturday morning to find... Snow fall! However, by the time we got all bundled up to go outside, it had already stopped... but Sam and Carson tried to catch some on their tongues anyway. Since it was such a cold day, we had to reschedule some of the outdoor things we had thought about doing. So, we found ourselves at the Science museum (thanks for the idea Jeni and Brian!)

Grandpa Leroy

Last weekend, Sam and I made the trip up to Illinois to celebrate the life of his grandpa Leroy. Although we wish that we could have spent more time there, we were very thankful that we were both able to attend the funeral service and spend the weekend with the entire Swanson gang. The visitation and funeral were both a beautiful testament to how many people loved granpa Leroy and what a kind and generous man he was. Although it was a sad time, it was so nice to spend so much quality time with family. I really enjoyed meeting all of Sam's cousins and Sam enjoyed catching up with them all. It was also really nice to hang out with Becka and Jake because I know that Sam and I wish we could see both of them even more! (Of course, we really missed Kelly and Maria!) We just keep thinking about how glad we are that we were able to spend Grandma and Grandpa's 60th wedding anniversary with them just weeks before.
