Field Day!

Here are some pictures of my class on field day. I don't have pictures- but I did let them soak me at the water relay...

Swine Flu = Spring break 2.... NOT.

Thanks to swine flu panic- I was told last Friday that the school district would be shut down from Monday- Friday of the next week.
"Awesome- I can stop bathing 3rd graders in lysol and enjoy a second spring break!"
So, I stuck around town on Monday checking for updates to make sure that this wasn't just too good to be true. On Tuesday, I decided I should take advantage of my time off and go spend some time with my dad and brother..... A 6 and a half hour drive isn't so bad when you have a week off, right?
Cruising through the back woods of east Texas, about 5 hours into my drive I get a phone call.
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news- but they've decided to re-open the schools earlier than expected so you'll need to report back to work on Thursday morning"
- Dangit!!

So, I made it to Lake Charles around 6:30, had dinner at a hibachi grill with dad and Carson, played a game of Yahtzee and got some sleep. All of this to wake up 7 hours later and make the long drive back to Dallas.

At least I don't have swine flu I guess.

German Fest

Sam- Pre-5K. I was sad that he didn't have any running buddies this year. (but not sad enough to step in and race with him!)

Sam's co-workers Brad and David came along this year. The did agree to compete in a slide race and it came down to a photo finish.

This is a very unflattering picture of me with my student teacher Lindsay. She rocks and I am so glad she gets to spend everyday Aug- Oct. with me in my classroom! (Although the 'wisdom' she is gleaning from me may be a hinderance to her future teaching performance. ha!)

Here are a couple of photos from my birthday on the 13th. We went out with our friends Jeremy and Jackie for dessert fondue but of course I forgot to take ANY pictures with them.

No pictures but last weekend we had fun hanging out in Houston with Jake, Kelly and girls. Sam has also been home improving. We have beautiful new updated fans in the living room and bedroom! If only we could fix the crack near the ceiling so that we don't have an 18ft ladder decorating our living room anymore!

In baby news: I went in today for a 15 week check up and have lost even more weight. Yipes (it turns out- I only thought I was over the vomitting in the post below). The Dr. didn't seem too concerned but if you're in the mood for a milk shake- I probably need one too. I got to hear that amazing little heart beat this afternoon and in 5 weeks we'll go back to see if it's pink or blue!

The past month...

Well, after a month of being a TOTAL bum- it's time for me to come out of hiding and update the blog! Today is the start of week 13. As far as we can tell- little gummy bear (or should I say alien?) Swanson is still baking comfortably. I know the above picture doesn't look like much but it's starting to feel like much! As of this week, I would say about 75% of my pants need to be unbuttoned. Attractive. I have gone about 5 consecutive days without starting my morning over the toilet- and I am rejoicing that. Weeks 9-12 were a little rough- I'm glad I still have a job after running into my classroom about 5 minutes before the bell and looking pretty disheveled each morning.

The above sono was taken at week 11. Thanks to my 'tilted uterus' the Dr. wasn't able to detect a heart beat from the outside (at which point I had a small melt down) and so he did another sono to make sure everything was fine- and of course everything was (hopefully the babe has spent the last two weeks growing a little more human and a little less star treky). I have been suprised by how much I look forward to going back to the Dr to hear that little heart beat. Another two weeks until the next visit. Sam and I went to the Rangers game on Wednesday night. I met up with Stacy and he met up with people from work. Excuse my poor appearance- thanks to allergy season, I haven't been able to wear eye make up and keep it on.

Here is a shot of Sam in Ft. Worth at the Stockyards last weekend. Sam has been so great lately. He hasn't gotten alot of home cooked meals, and I've been pretty lazy about getting anything done in the house but he always picks up slack with out complaining. On top of that- he has been busy at work and swamped with grad school work but he still manages to make time for me and help with anything I need. If only he could have ridden that pony....
