The secret's out...

February 11...... wow. One week later.... (because I needed to actually see the word)

March 13th... because we needed to actually see this little gummy bear....

Join us as we pray for the health of our little embryo- expected to debut October 17, 2009! Sorry for our recent sneakiness :)

Camping.

Pictures from the Swanson/Rawlins/Sabin family camping trip last weekend in Mexia:

Maria giving her uncle Sam some tips on the slide.
And what would any trip with Swanson men be without competition? And when the boys have run out of competitions... The make their wives compete. Hence- the football throwing competition. Although I came in last- upon reviewing this photo- I'm proud of my true former ballet dancer form.

Surprise!

Well, we have been BUSY! Valentine's day weekend I went down to Lake Charles to take care of my dad who had surgery on his shoulder. He is doing really well and me playing nurse and dad being patient went much better than expected. We actually got to hang out and watch movies which was really nice. Then- Sam and I made the long drive back to South East Texas again because for the last month or so I have been plotting and planning to surprise my mom with a party for her 50th birthday!
We had the party at a Mexican restaurant in Beaumont and I had organized it with mom's pals to take her out to dinner where we were all waiting. She was so surprised when she walked in- it was really funny! For those of you who don't know, my mom's fiance Brian lives and works in Iraq so they go months with out seeing each other. I had been emailing him some back and forth to share my plans for the party with him. As mom finally sat down, the waitress brought in some flowers and a bottle of wine with a card- as she read the card she looked up and said "Where is he?"....
Sure enough... Brian walked into the room- straight off the plane from Iraq! No one knew he was in so that was a surprise for everyone! It was a very good surprise for mom.
This is the cute Mardi Gras cake my friend Lindsay made for mom. She did such a good job!

Happy 50th Birthday mom! (I think for my first time hostessing a surprise party- it went well!)
And, here's a picture of Sam and I ice skating a few weeks ago. We were pro's. For everyone who's been asking- Sam has really been enjoying his new work at Perot Systems. It's keeping him really busy with work and grad school but we are both very thankful for his job!

I made eye contact with Dirk....

Our friend Dave hooked us up with the BEST seats ever for the Mav's game last night! We literally sat ONE row behind Mark Cuban. It was awesome! We could hear the talking on the court and on the bench and Sam was almost hit by a game ball as it flew out of bounds. Sorry for the poor quality photos (I didn't want to haul the nice camera in) But, I had to post proof and brag about our awesome game experience!

It was really funny to sit behind Mark Cuban ^ and hear him heckling the ref's and calling out to the players the whole game.

Weekend with Karol Anne

I had so much fun hanging out with Karol Anne this weekend. She was hosting a baby shower in Brownwood so I offered to drive her from Dallas to have an excuse to hang out with her all weekend. Karol Anne's sister Haley came along too. We stayed with Karol Anne's in-laws who have plenty of taxidermied animals around- and we couldn't resist silly photos. We also couldn't help but laugh when we were brushing our teeth and realized that we were dressed alike. And because I know that Karol Anne will read this and think it's funny- here is a photo from our "joint" birthday party back in 2002.

Belated Anniversary post

Here is a fuzzy picture of us before going out to celebrate our 2nd anniversary Tuesday. I am so blessed to have a husband that takes such good care of me and is so fun to hang out with. I am so glad that God's plans are better than those I could imagine for myself. Also, I don't have any pictures, but I sure am enjoying the new diamond sparkle on my finger :)

New Year, New Car.

Some of our best purchases have been made on a whim. Walking into the dealership Dec. 30th I would have classified us only as slightly interested shoppers motivated mostly by boredom. But, a few hours later we were calling our credit union working out an interest rate. We got a great 'new years eve' deal on this Hyundai Santa Fe and voila! My new car!
